COVID-19 (Coronavirus) – an update for our clients.

Fear Free

Rowan Vets are advocates of Fear Free® – an organisation founded upon the mission of preventing and alleviating fear, anxiety, and stress in pets. They provide the knowledge and tools to help our veterinary team provide the best experience possible for pets, that cares for both their physical and emotional wellbeing.

Part of our journey with Fear Free® includes educating our owners on how to help make their pet’s visit to the vet fear free. Take a look at this short film HERE, which gives some great hints and tips on how to prepare your pet for a visit.

How impromptu vet visits can help your dog

One thing you can do as a dog owner is to visit our practice site often without actually having an appointment. Due to the COVID restrictions, entering the building may not be an option currently, but wandering around the grounds and letting your dog sniff will help them to become familiar with the sights, sounds, and smells. They will also associate the visit with this rather than an examination or treatment.

When COVID restrictions lift further, bringing them inside the building when they don’t have an appointment can help too. Having positive experiences like just saying hello to our team and getting a treat, will further enhance the positive association they can develop towards visits.

If you have any concerns about the health or behaviour of your pet, contact our Client Care team on PetsApp (icon bottom right) or by calling 01772 639800 OR 01253 766352.
