Veterinary Client Care Receptionist

Location: Warton & Blackpool – Hillock Lane and Whitegate Drive
Hours: Full-time, averaging 40 hours per week, including Saturday mornings
Part-time: Considered for the right candidate
Pay: £26,436.80 at entry level

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has a genuine passion for providing excellent customer service and is looking to develop a career in a busy, varied and rewarding client care and administration role.

You will work across both our Hillock Lane practice in Warton and our Whitegate Drive branch in Blackpool, on a rota basis. No two days are quite the same, and you’ll play an important role in making sure every client and their pet receives a warm, professional and supportive welcome.

At Rowan, we pride ourselves on the quality of the care and service we provide. We work hard to build strong, trusting relationships with our clients and patients, and our team plays a vital part in making that happen.

Our vision is “to become a hub of veterinary hope by transforming the veterinary experience for all those we welcome through our doors.”

As part of our Client Care Team, you will be the first point of contact for many of our clients, helping to create a positive experience from the moment they walk through our doors or pick up the phone.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Excellent face-to-face customer service skills.
  • A warm, confident and professional telephone manner.
  • A proactive, positive and “can-do” attitude.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Good computer skills and the confidence to learn and use a new practice management system.
  • The ability to take ownership of your work and take pride in delivering a consistently high standard of service.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a busy and supportive team.

Essential

  • Proven customer care or customer service experience.
  • An understanding of what excellent customer service looks like.
  • Confidence when discussing financial accounts, including outstanding balances and debt.
  • The ability to work to a consistently high standard in a busy environment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within a veterinary practice or clinical environment.
  • A genuine interest in developing your knowledge and skills within the role.
  • An understanding of infection control within a clinical environment.
  • Previous cash-handling experience.

Veterinary experience isn’t essential – what matters most to us is your attitude, your approach to customer care and your willingness to learn.

What we offer

At Rowan, we believe in investing in our people and supporting them to develop their skills and careers.

You’ll have the opportunity to complete CPD courses funded by the business, allowing you to increase your skills and hourly rate as you progress. With continued development, this can ultimately lead to BVRA accreditation.

In addition, we offer:

  • Company pension.
  • 5.6 weeks’ annual leave, pro rata.
  • Staff discount following successful completion of a four-month probationary period.
  • Three days’ paid sick leave following successful completion of a four-month probationary period.
  • Further CPD and development opportunities.
  • Company events.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • A supportive team environment with genuine opportunities to develop your career.

The role is full-time, averaging 40 hours per week, and includes Saturday morning shifts on a rota basis.

We also welcome applications from candidates seeking part-time hours, depending on the needs of the successful candidate and the practice.

As with any busy veterinary environment, there will be an expectation to provide additional support when required, including during periods of staff sickness and annual leave.
