One disease that vaccination protects your dog against is parvovirus. This virus is widespread in the UK and is highly contagious. It can contaminate and live in the environments for months or even years. Symptoms include loss of appetite and depression which can rapidly progress to profuse vomiting and bloody diarrhoea. Dogs can deteriorate rapidly especially puppies. They succumb to dehydration, shock and secondary infections. Treatment is available but recovery is not always guaranteed. Vaccination is highly effective at protecting puppies and dogs.
