#VNAM Hayley Winston NCert (E&CC) ISFM Dip FN RVN

May 4, 2022

Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, or #VNAM for short, is celebrated every year in May to raise awareness of the fantastic work and contribution our RVNs make to thousands of pets around the country.

This year is no different and we’re taking the opportunity to share with you the great work our team here at Rowan Vets undertake every day.  This years’ theme of #VNAM is #OurProfessionMyResilience and we can say for sure that each one of the team are a great representation of the profession!

During the COVID 19 pandemic and particularly in the early days, our RVNs were integral to the continued delivery of our services.  We wouldn’t have been able to do it without them so we’re really pleased that we can celebrate them and all they do during this month.

Today we celebrate Hayley our head nurse.  Hayley qualified in June 2012 and has continued to develop not only her clinical skills but also her management skills.  She is also a member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to the strategic direction of the practice as a whole.

Hayley manages a team of 11 nurses and is also the mentor for those who come to Rowan to train to be an RVN.  Hayley has very high standards so the training and support they receive is of the highest quality.  Hayley has worked hard to ensure that her skills help nurture the talents of the nursing team to ensure the highest standards and quality of care for our patients and is a key influencer and driver of Rowan’s clinical standards.

She has also continued to develop her own clinical skills.   She has completed a Nurses Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care as well as a Diploma in Feline Nursing.

Hayley developed and now runs an established and successful Senior Cat Clinic (SCC) at both the Hillock Lane practice and the branch practice in Blackpool.  This clinic is offered to those cats who are 7 years and over and allows clients to monitor the health of their cat proactively.  Hayley’s knowledge of our feline friends is extensive and includes advice on kidney disease, thyroid disease, behaviour, to name just a few.  In fact, her knowledge is so extensive, many of the vets come to her for clinical advice on their own feline cases.

Find out more about our SCC  HERE and if you have any concerns about the health of your cat or want to book in for a complimentary senior cat clinic, contact the team via PetsApp or by calling 01772 639800 OR 01253 766352.
