Puppy Socialization – the benefits.
February 28, 2022
There’s been conflicting information about the effects of COVID-19 on puppies. Whatever your experience or opinion, not being able to interact in the same way for a long period of time has meant that in some cases, the very important step of socialising a puppy has been missed.
In the long term this can cause behavioural issues in dogs and it can be very hard to undo unwanted behaviours that may have developed.
Whether you bought a puppy during COVID-19 or are thinking of getting a puppy, socialisation is VERY important. During the early months of development, puppies can develop fears of what we humans would consider very ordinary things. These fears could stay with them for life so exposing them to the world while they are inquisitive and want to explore helps them see that there’s nothing to fear.
Download your very own puppy socialization checklist HERE and share any new activities that you have invented to train, entertain and socialize your puppy? Share your ideas and pictures to help other owners.
If you have concerns about your pet’s behaviour, get in touch with the client care team on PetsApp or call 01772 639800 OR 01253 766352.
