Excellent practice locations – vets in Preston & Blackpool
Rowan Vets is based in the North West of England and has two practices. Our main practice is a purpose-built clinic with a well-equipped surgery on-site, located on Hillock Lane within a green-belt area of Preston. We’re extremely lucky to have a beautiful meadow surrounding our practice that our team, clients, and pets can enjoy.
Our smaller branch surgery is on Whitegate Drive in Blackpool, just one mile from Stanley Park and 1.5 miles from Blackpool beach.

Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) – Full Time

Rowan Veterinary Centre is an independent small animal practice on the beautiful Fylde coast. We provide high-quality first-opinion services to our patients and clients from our purpose-built practice in Warton (near Kirkham) and our branch surgery in Blackpool.
Job Summary
We are seeking an efficient and proactive Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our veterinary practice. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients while supporting the veterinary team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional development within a friendly and supportive environment. The role involves a variety of clinical duties, client communication, and laboratory work, all performed in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assisting veterinarians during consultations, examinations, and surgical procedures
- Administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed
- Monitoring anaesthetic procedures and providing post-operative care
- Collecting samples for laboratory analysis and performing basic diagnostic tests
- Maintaining accurate medical records and updating patient files
- Providing advice and support to pet owners regarding health care and treatment plans
- Ensuring cleanliness and organisation of clinical areas, including kennels and surgical suites
- Supporting laboratory functions by preparing samples and conducting routine tests where appropriate
- Educating clients on preventative health measures and general health care
- Ensuring efficient coordination of morning procedures
- Carrying out nurse consultations
Experience
- Experience as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. Newly qualified RVN’s may be considered.
- Laboratory experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for specific procedures
- Strong understanding of veterinary protocols, procedures, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and team members.
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
This role is ideal for a motivated individual committed to animal welfare and professional growth within the veterinary field.
We are offering:
- A salary of £29,952 to £33,952, plus a call-out fee and hourly rate if called in
